Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata automatically embedded in photos by cameras and smartphones. It can include GPS coordinates, camera make and model, date and time, exposure settings, and more.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
Why should I strip EXIF data before sharing?
Photos taken on smartphones often contain precise GPS coordinates. When you share these photos publicly, anyone can extract that location, potentially revealing your home, workplace, or other sensitive locations.
What image formats are supported?
JPEG and TIFF files typically contain EXIF data. PNG and WebP files rarely do. The tool accepts all common image formats.
Does stripping EXIF affect image quality?
The stripped image is redrawn via the browser Canvas API at 95% quality. For JPEGs there may be a negligible quality difference, but no visible degradation for typical photos. PNG files are lossless and unaffected.
Can I process multiple photos at once?
Yes. Drop or select multiple files at once. Use "Strip all & download" to save all cleaned images in one go.
